One of the earliest apartments in the Cathedral Area neighbourhood in Regina, the Beta Apartment Complex was constructed in 1914 by the local firm of Smith Brothers and Wilson, who also built the nearby Sacred Heart Academy and Holy Rosary Cathedral. The building contained 27 units and the construction cost was $61,000. The "Modern Apartments" on the north side of 14th Avenue were originally called the "Alpha Apartments", hence the name of the Beta building. The exterior design of the Beta Apartments represents a modest interpretation of the Edwardian Classical style. The red brick exterior of the street facades is accentuated with a white stone band at the full three storey height of the building. During recent renovations to the building the entrance doors have been changed, but unattractively so. The building was designated a municipal heritage property in 1995.
