The bronze statue stands nine feet six inches and rests atop a 10 foot high base of Missouri granite. It was unveiled in 1888 where the Lucas Market was located. Grant sold wood there during his farming life. The statue was moved to this location in 1903. The sculptor was Robert Porter Bringhurst.
