Vindhyachal is a famous Hindu pliligirmage in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh situated in North India. Vindhyachal dhaam as known in local culture is highly revered site for HIndus and is very popular in people of UP and Bihar & Madhya Pradesh. The presiding deity of Vindhyachal is Mother Vindhyavasini who according to Markandeya Purana had incarnated to kill the demon Mahishasur and thus Goddess also got the name of Mahishasurmardini. A detailed description has been given in 'Durga Saptashati' Chapter of Markandeya Purana. Vindhyachal is situated on the banks of river Ganges.

People do the Mundan sanskar of their Kids, Mundan is the shaving off the hair ceremony of the kid,  when the child's birth hair is first removed. The place is considered highly auspicious and people come here from very far places too, from nearby states as well. Also they do thread ceremony (Janeu-Uapnayan) sanskar here.

This is also a very good place for tantra sadhana. A lot Tantriks perform their sadhana on the banks of Ganges.

Other sites of pilgrimage include Kali Khoh (literally 'the cave of the Goddess Kali') where a statue of the Kali has a mouth formed in the shape of a cave, hence the name. This is a very beautiful place with sceneic locations and serene atmosphere. There are water falls, mountains, and temples amidst jungles. All this together make this place very enchanting and serene.
