This is the site of the Walt and Lillian Disney family residence February 1950 to December 1997.

Walt Disney moved his family to this five acre site to fulfill his dream of having a miniature railroad for he and his children to enjoy. It was there on the property that the Carolwood Pacific Railroad was born, complete with an “S” shaped tunnel, overpasses and a 46-foot long trestle. The railroad would go on to serve as inspiration for his creation of Disneyland.

After Lillian's death on December 16,1997, Gabriel Brener, chief executive of investment firm Brener International Group and co-owner of the Houston Dynamo soccer team purchased the property from the Disney estate for $8.45 million in 1998. Brener demolished the original house, and constructed a 22,000 sq ft mansion in 2001. He also acquired the adjacent lot to the south, adding more acreage.

In 2013 the Breners listed the Carolwood estate for $90 million, eventually selling for $74 million in 2014.
