This large property is owned by Irwin L, Jacobs, corporate raider and entrepreneur. He is and has been CEO of several large corporations, including Genmar Holdings, Inc. the worlds largest boat building company. He earned the nickname "Irv the Liquidator" for his aggressive business practices in the 1970s and early 1980s. He is a deal maker and bargain hunter based in Minneapolis and became wealthy by taking big stakes in Fortune 500 conglomerates, usually with the goal of unlocking value by breaking them up. He was a member of The Forbes 400 richest Americans from 1986 to 1988. He also created the FLW Tour for sport fishing.

The main house dates to 1939 and is listed on property records as having 9,700 square feet on 32.41 acres. The 12,874-square-foot house has six bedrooms and a six-car garage. Built next to the outdoor, heated in-ground pool is a fully functional, 3,500-square-foot guest house with two bedroom suites and a sauna. In all, the homes have eight fireplaces and 10 bathrooms: one full, four three-quarter, four half-baths and one quarter bath. In 2014, he listed the 32-acre Lake Minnetonka estate for $22 million. Hennepin County property records value the property at $9.2 million, with an annual tax bill of about $119,000.
