Model Industries Building

This was one of two workhouses on the island where prisoners could have jobs while serving their sentences. For many, working was considered a privilege. It broke up the monotony and isolation of life in prison, and gave them some work experience to help them upon their release.

  • it was closed when one of the inmates broke out of it when the guads was looking the other way becuase the building is in the shape of an "L" so the guards couldnt watchthe inmates the whoe time
  • The model industries building was built on top of Battery Rosecrans, which was constructed in the 1850s.
