  • Treasure Island was the home of the Navy's Radar, Sonar, and Electronic Technician Schools in the late 1950s-early 1960s. I went to Radar School there in late 1959- ealy 1960, for 20 weeks. GREAT experience!!!
  • Kinda looks like a correctional facility by the shapes of some of the buildings. No offense.
  • The first picture shows the construction of the Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island, circa 1938. The tip of the former Key System mole is also visible next to the Bay Bridge.
  • I was stationed on Treasure Island in 1963/1964. I attended the Electronic Technician "A" school that was 48 weeks long. Seems that the Marine Barracks, Chow hall, and many of the buildings on the East side of H Avenue remain intact to this day. The old Navy Exchange, Movie theater, hangars, and bowling alley buildings also still exist. It was great duty, but it was hard to enjoy San Francisco on $38.00 a month. That was E-2 pay at that time.
  • As a U.S. Marine I attended the training in 1944- 1945
