Mr Rashid Chughtai is CEO and president of SME Bank Ltd.Mr R A Chughtai has distinguished career which spreads over forty years in central banking,inspection,supervision and regulations of commercial banks and non bank institutions.He has held senior positions with the state bank of Pakistan where he was deputy governor from June 1997 to June 2004,and also worked as acting governor in the absence of governor.

Represented Pakistan from 1985 to 1990 in WTO in the areas of financial services and discussed and negotiated pakistan's committments in fincnicals services under GATS.. He was also a member of experts group set us under ECO on commercial banking and ECO trade and development bank and served as secretary to the banking laws review commission for four years.
He remained on the board of directors of various institutions and served as chairman,board of directors of Islamabad stock exchange for one year. He has been member of the board of directors of national commodity exchange Limited for two years.

Prior to joining SME bank as president,he remained president of Zarai Taraqiati Bank for e period of over two years.
