Uppugundur(Village code-13) belongs to Naguluppala Padu mandal (Mdl code-45) of Prakasham Dt, AP.

Uppugundur gets its name from the salty waters of the sea being dried to make salt in the salt fields. To reach the ancient seaport Motupalli one can get auto from Uppugunduru junction. Motupalli has some ancient temples of Lord Rama and Lord shiva. Archeological department is renovating the temples. Sila sasanaas in telugu and Kannada are seen and it dates back to the period of Vijayanagar empire 14-15th century.
