This was the site of Curries Woods, a low income, high-rise apartment complex built in the late 1950's. By the 1970's, Curries Woods had become a dangereous, crime-ridden slum. So infamous was Curries Woods that Ted Koppel devoted an entire episode of ABC's Nightline on the troubled complex in the late 1980's. Most of the buildings have since been torn down, to be replaced by low rise, low-income housing.
