stormwater, flood protection
This flood control structure combines soil cement stabilization and shotcrete with public art. Embedded in the walls of the arroyo are artificial fossils. Each color of shotcrete represents an era. The most visible of these fossils are the dinosaur bones on the west side. The artificial fossils become more recent as you travel east, including Robert Oppenheimer's car and the first atomic bomb.
