wetland, region, draw only border, flood protection

Flood waters from the Sacramento River are diverted over three weirs onto this overflow area, from which they return to the Sacramento River near its confluence with the Feather river (and are often diverted again into Yolo Bypass).
The northeast border of the north end of the bypass is approximate, as the extent of the flooded area varies from year to year.
Outside the flood season, most of this area is used for farming. Small sections are designated as wildlife preserves.
