Unincorporated community in Pushmataha County. Capital of the Choctaw Nation. The name means "red warrior" in the Choctaw language. It was first settled in 1838 after the Choctaw were relocated here during the Trail of Tears. Originally named Tushka Homma, the name was combined and anglicized to its current form in the 1860s.
