Brison Park (College Station, Texas)

USA / Texas / College Station / College Station, Texas
park, place with historical importance, picnic area

Nicest park in probably all of College Station as far as picturesque goes. Very nice for frisbee throwing and picnics. There's a stream that runs through the middle... dogs are welcome but the CS police can be up to their usual self and give you a ticket for no leash so watch out... $400 fine.

Originally called Dexter Park, was renamed in 1980 in honor of Fred Brison. Fred Brison was on the College Station City Council, Mayor pro tem from 1971-1974, and a member of the Texas A&M University Horticultural Faculty for 43 years. The park is a beautifully wooded green space, protected from development by deed restrictions. The park has a 1/3-mile jogging trail, and parking for 10 cars. A seasonal stream runs the length of the park.

In honor of the 12 Aggies who died during the collapse of the bonfire in 1999, the City of College Station dedicated an individual lamp post to each of the twelve. One of the lamp post dedication monuments is shown in the picture above.
