lake, hill, interesting place

A series of falling, connected ponds from which the nearby Puddledock lane gets its name. The topmost pond is replenished by a natural spring, fed by a greensand aquifer. The ponds formed in 1756 during a landslip which started in December and finished in April. An account of the event was published at the time in the Gentlemans Magazine, London.
