this is nellikulam peak highest point.these white mossy rock cliffs stands over the shola grasslands are a majestic seen .almost all the trees on the cliff bears different types of orchids or ferns.one astonishing thing the elephant herds are reaching just below the rocky summit!! there is a deep gorge just few yards away the summit towards the pothundy dam side (apprx.500 mtrs deep).the nilgiri tahrs are capable of running very fast along the narrow ridge lining this deep gorge.(this gorge can be viewed on clear mist free days from marappalam -which is on the way to nelliyampathy .there are many rivulets originating from this region among them kottiyar flowing to kalchady side making a very steep waterfall which can be seen from nemmara adiperanda area.towards pothundy dam side -kattilappara falls and many other small streams.towards south side kuriyarkutty river which is a main tributory of chalakkudy river.any ecological damage to these grassland shola can cause severe waterscarsity and environment hazard to the entire palakkad district... preserve this place from mere money making commercial tourism.
