  • hi, Coimbatore shortly people calling as Kovai. What a Fantastic Place! What a good weather during summer and winter! You know I was studied in Kovai. I had good chances to stayed at koval for 3 years. That was a amazing memories in my life. I like siruvani Water , Koval chips, Annapurna Hotel, Like to Walking all the way from Gandhpuram bustand . And Of course shighting our beauty girls on the road. Honestly saying the people from koval city are more kindness and more hosptiality. They are speaking way of tamil is different from other dist. I like it much! We can see separate the peoples from Kovai when they speaking our tamil. Finally I say Kovai is one of the fastest developing city in India. I believe that Soon Kovai will become like Singapore. There is no doubt! Jai Hind! Vanthe Matharam! Regards Saravanan from Singapore

The polite natives, respectable language, best hospitality, salburious weather& the tastiest SIRUVANI water,can/will tempt&render anyone who enters Coimbatotore to get settled there. Situated at the junction of three states(Tamilnadu,Kerala&Karnataka),harmony prevails among native&migrant populations of all races, languages, colours, cultures, religions.Places of worship for all religions, community cultural halls, eateries to cater all the worlds' tongues are aplenty.Name the terrain, you can reach it.Hills, waterfalls, trekking routes, villages of hill-tribes,meditation centres, SALIM ALI bird sanctuary!!! What more do you need to name this place "God's GIFT"!!!!!

  • Coimbatore ROCKS...
  • I have a beautiful city it is thee one and only beautiful city in India.it is the manchester city "Coimbatore"
  • Love for my native place coimbatore will never fade in me.
  • I am a Keralite.I started my career in Tamil Nadu in 80's.Travelled , worked , stayed almost all areas in India. Worked in Goimbatore about 21 years . I like Coimbatore, People, their hospitality Several clients..etc.,It was my home town. I started my own business totally collapsed. Then I find the actual face of the town and people.. Sorry Iam forced to say like this.. Every where corruption. If I want to move a paper I have to give money... In court, RTO office, Govt. offices, School, Colleges etc, etc Living cost became too high, Building construction cost, House rents, School Expences, Hotel food everything became higher and higher.. I realised this after returning to my Birth place Kerala 2 years back.. I wonderd the natural beauty , greenary, natural water, climate, education, We are buying vegetables, rice , wheat, fruits etc from tamil nadu, eventhen any body can get good break fast including tea @ 15 Rs. Noon meals @ 15-20 Rs. including fish curry as in dinner also. In every aspect we can feel the difference Except in the bus fair which is cheaper in Coimbatore. Neatness also can be improve in Coimbatore. In Kerala, you can find free reading room and libraries within 1 Km. area which will be more useful to the public. One major appreciable matter belonging to Coimbatore is the public giving more respect to LADIES. Women can walk late night without fear in town as well as in rural ares . I love Coimbatore , the new genarations can do a lot for changing the face of Coimbatore in proper way which is possible SAHADEVAN
  • I have been through most of the comments and I am surprised to note that many of those who have praised coimbatore for its climate, water and development have not mentioned the spots to be visited by people who come to Coimbataore. Perur temple ( its ancient statues), the forest college Museum, the voc park where we can find the trees full of huge bats called the flying foxes hanging upside down, needless to say the the taste of Siruvani water, the climate and the natural fauna surrounding this city.

  • Coimbatore is one of my special places. When ever I visit coimbatore, it takes me to mychild hood where in which we used to visit my aunts place and spend the summer holidays. Very nostalgicmemories. The Red Hills, Marudhamalai, The bakeries, Annapoorna and Gowrishanker food, all makes Kovai my special place. The people here are always peace loving and mind their own business still ready tohelp. Very difficult to find such cultured people and society. I love Kovai and proud to be associated with Kovai
  • it is the supr place
  • Coimbatore, also known as kovai, is one of the most sought after cities in tamilnadu after chennai. it's now on the verge of becoming a major hub for small and big scale manufacturing industries and IT companies. It's also a environmentally serene place with lots of places tovisit in and around coimbatore, be it the nilgiris, or valparai, or pollachi...coimbatore has become a favourite tourism spot for many indians as welas foreigners.....Coimbatore has also Luxurious five star hotels like RESIDENCY, LE MERIDIEN....and also there are huge shopping cum entertainment complexes like BROOKFIELDS, FUN REPUBLIC.
  • NICE PLACE
  • I like my fantastic coimbatore... No words to say....
  • I live here last 45 years. Day by day the traffic in the city is getting terrific. Corporation should build bridges wherever required to ease the traffic. 1. Need to build bridge or bypass road along the pond from good shed road to Valankulam to reach Ukkadam. 2. Need to build bridge from North Flyover to Cowley Browne road to reduce the traffic at Chinthamani Junction. All well wishers should give their idea to reduce the traffic congestion in the city.
  • WE WANT MORE INFO ABOUT HISTORICALY CHARMING KOVAI.......
  • Kovai - The best place i have ever seen. Honest and wonderful people. Nice climate. Well-educated people. Good hospitality. A good commercial place. U can find not only tamilians, but also malayalis, telugus, kannadigas, marwadis, jains, bengalis, etc. It is the city of mixture, still its a pick of gentle people. The ranks no.1 in terms of GDP [not chennai]. It is the fourth biggest/largest cities in south india next to chennai, bangalore and hydrabad. The city has more than 25000 small scale industries. famous for education, grinders, automobiles, pumpsets, engineering, hospitals and IT. It is the second largest IT hub in TN next to chennai with the sw export of 750 crores / year in 2010. Hope to be more than double this year. I love my memories in coimbatore. I have never seen a road like race course road anywhere in the country even in delhi or mumbai. such a porsh and calm road.
  • its a heavenly place to live.....!!!
  • i would say it is the most worst
  • I think coimbatore has a lot of cosmopolitan traits in it, owing to the multilingual, multicultural population residing here. But people have become greedy.. with unending quest for money. They seek shortest ways to grab money - not to earn it.. so there is widespread discontent among visitors who happen to hire a taxi or auto... the hotels are charging highly unreasonable prices for food.. like Rs. 24 for two idlis.. may be nowhere in south india we see this type of crave for money... masons and workers are so dishonest with their work that of late there is a steady flow of north indian work force pushing up the floating population beyond control for the law enforcing agencies... People have no interest in art and culture or socialising..all are behind money... there are many big water bodies here which are left uncared by the local bodies.. if preserved, these ponds could be made excellent picnic spots for the city people.. but who cares?
  • Coimbatore, the other name of which is Kovai, is the second biggest city in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is located at a distance of about 500 km from Chennai, on the banks of the Noyyal River because of which, it is also known as Koneyammanputhhur, signifying the 'birth place of the Goddess'. It is one of the major centres for the textile and engineering industry not only in the state, but throughout south India. Coimbatore is also known as the ‘Manchester of South India’ because of its large number of textile industries. The education and health care industries are also growing here at a steady rate. The administrative headquarters of the Coimbatore District is also located at this place. The history of the city dates back to the Sangam Age, when it was a part of the Kongu country and was inhabited by tribal people. Later the Rashtra Kutas seized the city, followed by the Cholas, Chalukyas, Pandayas and the Cysalas. Finally, it came under the rule of the Madurai Sultanets. In the wars that were fought between 1377 and 1378, the kingdom was destroyed because of the battle between Muthu Veerappa Nayak and Tirumal nayak. In 1799, Hyder Ali of Mysore took over the place. After the downfall of Tipu Sultan towards the end of the 18th century, the city came under the control of the British and remained under them till India’s independence. Coimbatore was earlier known as Kongunad and its present name was given by the British. Coimbatore played a major role in India’s struggle for independence. Kongu Tamil, which is a unique dialect of the Tamil language, is the main language spoken in this city. People belonging to the Gounder and Kamma Naidu communities form the majority of the population. Keralites, mostly from Palakkad and Gujaratis also live in considerable numbers. The city also has a substantial Muslim population, while Christians and Sikhs live in small numbers. Since some of the popular hill stations in India, including Ooty, Coonoor and Valparai, are at a close proximity from Coimbatore, it is quickly becoming a popular tourist destination. The Siruvani Waterfalls is also not very far away. There are several attractions in Coimbatore, but the temples and the shrines are the most popular ones. Some of the most popular religious places in this city include Marudhamalai Hill Temple, Ayyappan Temple, Islam Safia Jamath Mosque, Dhyanalinga Yogic Temple, St Antony's Church, Lord Ganesha Temple, Infant Jesus Church, Ramar Temple, Anubhavi Subramaniar Temple, etc. Some other interesting places to visit include Bhavani Sagar Dam, Black Thunder, Kovai Kondattam, Siruvani Falls and Dam, Thirumoorthi Dam, Aazhiyaar Dam (Aaleeyaar Dam), Amaravathi Dam, Sozhaiyaar (Solaiyaar) Dam, Monkey Falls, Kodiveri Dam, Vydehi Falls and Kovai Kutralam Falls.
  • Born and brought up in Coimbatore, I've lived 21 years of my life here. Recently shifted to Bangalore for work. Needless to say I agree with all of the perks of this surreal city, I want to mention one aspectof it. Transport! The road transport in coimbatore is remarkable. Every part of Coimbatore is connected with every other part by a web-like network that the city looks compact and easily traversible, although a little pricey thanks to the new Government policy.
  • Coimbatore city is golden city.because many goldsmith lived in the cute city.
