Opened in 1854 on site of Kennington Common. Has trees, open areas, sports facilities and dog free play area and adventure playground for children. Also flower and herb garden and rosebeds. As Kennington Common it was the site of public executions, the site of a Chartist rally, and used by orators such as John Wesley (Methodist). Kennington Park was the destination of the first red London bus in 1899.
