"Peacock Point" (Lattingtown, New York)

USA / New York / Lattingtown / Lattingtown, New York
residence, LIGC - Long Island Gold Coast, historical layer / disappeared object

Built for Henry Davison{JP Morgan, Red Cross chairman} brick and limestone Georgian Revival c. 1914 by Walker & Gillette. It included parts salvaged of the "Boscobel" home in the Hudson Valley for a time. Key architectural elements of "Boscobel" were harvested in 1955. There is a wonderful photograph of the pieces loaded on a truck headed the North Shore for Henry P. Davison. At the last possible minute, the DeWitt Wallaces became interested in rebuilding "Boscobel" across from West Point, and formed a foundation and persuaded the Long Island people to sell back most of the parts. Olmsted designed the circular drive and lawns.

House demolished and a guest house was moved to the site. Remains of a balustraded terrace surround the original site.
