Renukoot Aluminium Plant of hindalco

An Aluminium Smelter & Alumina Refinery in India owned by Hindalco. The integrated facility houses a 700,000 tpa alumina refinery and a 345,000 tpa aluminium smelter along with facilities for production of semi-fabricated products namely conductor redraw rods, sheet and extrusions.

In 1967 Hindalco established a captive power plant at Renusagar, the first captive power plant (CPP) for aluminium industry in India. This along with a co-generation power unit ensures continuous supply of power for the smelter and other operations.

  • i heard captive power plant had received international accolades and awards for efficiency. How it was made efficient? Is it gas powered plant or any other fuel?
