This is also known as 'Burhi Narmada' . According to Shri R.K.Chaturvedi,Dy.Director General, G.S.I.(Retd.),this is one of the palaeo-channels of river Narmada which has shifted its course towards south due to tectonic uplifting of the block towards north.The area is seismically active with records of earthquakes.
