  • The most important lake in the district is the great Suraha Tal which covers a large area. Its circumference is approx 35 km.
  • Mantharani (born c.1890) migrated from Saraya village near Ballia in 1906 with son Ramsundar (born 1903) to Trinidad, West Indies. Married Ramesar there c. 1911 and had 2 more sons and 6 daughters. Left behind unnamed husband and family in Saraya. Anyone knows Saraya? Please post comment.
