Nagarwalla family residence. The Nagarwalla road is named after them. This place used to be a dance hall and cafe for British troops in World War 2.
A POW camp was siutated a few hundred meters away and the prisoners used to earn wages working on furniture and doing odd jobs around the cafe.
The Nagarwalla home and Cafe has a large quantum of antique furniture as well as some creted by the German POWs.

  • Nagarwalla Road is not named after the family living at 11 Nagarwalla Road. It was named after the family living at 14 Nagarwalla Road which belonged to Dorabjee Eduljee Nagarwalla, CEI, knighted by the British Empire. The 14 Nagarwalla property is in possessionb of the family since 1961. Was also the Mayor of Ahmednagar for 15 consecutive years. His picture and write-up are displayed at the Council Hall,Ahmednagar City. Abbot road does not exist it is Hunter Road right past the Annexe and beyond till the Cantonment Hospital.
