Village of Historical Importance, Largely Ignored.
Sabalpur is small village having population of more than 2000, situated 1.5 Km close to Mangalpur in Kanpur Dehat district of UP. This village having historical importance due to voluntarily participation in the freedom struggle of India for long period. In 1857 thirteen rebellions of this village were hanged up by British army on a neem tree due to raising voice against British rule and participation in the 1857 revolt. India got freedom from British rule in 1947 and after independence nine people were recognized freedom fighters due to their voluntary participation in various activities against British rule at many places on many occasions and were punished and jailed for. All died till 1996.
Even though having such important role and situated in the heartland of the country in Gangatic plain this village was not electrified/No single pole exists till updating of the information (march-2017). Governments carelessness, cheap politics and bureaucratic negligence lead this village to keep in dark even all surrounding villages got electrified tens of years before.
There is memorial in the memory of martyrs in the village, When ever officers and politicians came to village they pay tribute and go back.
People of this village didn't get good response and voices unheard whenever approached or filed RTI over electrification.
People of this village have all hopes and in every election they participates enthusiastically, they prioritize to educate their children even without access of electric power. Village is educated and progressive.
This village given an inter college (Antahpuri Inter college) and this was the only college in surrounding areas of more than 20 villages for years for learning and helped a lot lighting up the education in rural villages while there were scarcity of schools.
Now peoples of this village having lot of hope for development in newly formed government in Uttar Pradesh specially waiting for proper access to power.
