Sholavarm Aerodrome- one of d air field which was used by British Air Force during World War 2... lots of Single Piston aircraft would have landed & taken off from here.. now it belong to Madras Flying club.. its also used for flying aero models..thus keeping d spirit alive.. Its a historic place.. I request Tamil Nadu govt & MFC to protect this place & safe gurad it from intruders who make this historic place invisible for our future generations,... plz keep this place alive which 1ce faced WW2.. send ur views to shi.adhoc@gmail.com

  • In August 1942 the airfield had five squadrons based.   • but now it is used for boys for practicing stunts....it is a long stretch and so one can check the bike top speed........the road is made of concrete so it is well grip; but lorries use this as bypass for avoiding toll booth money
  • currently, it is under the administrative control of Air Force Station AVADI Chennai-600055.
  • It's very near 2 AVADI (Armored Vehicle and Ammunition Depot of India). The 1st Acronymic Township of India.
