The Vidin region is one of the twenty eight administrative regions within Bulgaria. The region has a total land area of 3 033 sq.km., that making it the 21th largest in Bulgaria. The region consists eleven municipalities: Boychinovtsi, Boynitsa, Bregovo Vidin, Gramada, Dimovo, Kula, Makresh, Novo Selo, Ruzhintsi and Chuprene with total population of 121 465 people (28th) (09.2008).

Largescale investment program of the national government is tended to change this by making this corner of the country important international transport corridor from Middle East to Central and Western Europe.
