The Naval Historical Center is open to the public without charge. The Center is located in the Washington Navy Yard in southeast Washington, D.C. Most branches of the Center are open from 0900 to 1600 (9:00 am to 4:00 pm) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The U.S. Navy Museum is open Monday through Friday from 0900 to 1700 (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) and on weekends and holidays from 1000 to 1700 (10:00 am to 5:00 pm). The display ship BARRY has the same hours of operations as the U.S. Navy Museum. Visitors should verify the hours of operation for individual branches prior to their arrival, as there are some variations from this schedule.

  • When I visited Washington, this was one of my favorite museums. It's not crowded with tourists, there are a large number of historical artifacts, well lit and you can easily walk around the artifacts.
