Mayfair Kwality ra, Hazratganj, Lucknow, India. with a movie hall, restaurants, bookstores, in a mall of some 200 shops. It was the social hub of Lucknow 1950-1990.s.

Mayfair, now an abandoned cinema house, most famous for a book shop, RAm Advani, Bookseller. Ram Advani, now in his mid eighties, is amongst the last representatives of a bygone, unhurried and gracious culture that typefied the city and is today virtually as famous as the city itself!. He has a friendly open disposition and loves visitors. Mayfair, the cinema house itself, owned by the late Gulu Thadani saw its glory days in the 50's and 60's, when it was the hub of the social life of the city. His sons, tried valiantly to operate the cinema house, in a fast changing environment. The cinema closed approximately a decade ago. Another landmark, that also represented gentler times, also housed within the Mayfair premises, was the Kwality's restaurant. This too has now made way for a bank. Architecturally, the Mayfair building represents a typically 60's style, with broad staircases and wide verandah's (now used as parking space for two wheelers!).
