This was a small "5 shop town", this town would hold the bi-weekly markets, on Sundays & thursday when people from the villages (some 5-6 kms away) would come to buy their provisions, etc. Now of course it is bustling bazaar & land prices have touched the ceiling.
This was also a meeting place of all the local politicians who thought the were worth talking, this was mainly due to the closeness to the smallest of administrative unit of India - the Block - of corse now this has shifted to the village level - Gram Panchayat.
