Belasin

India / Uttar Pradesh / Machhlishahr /

This is Belasin Village. It is located in tehsil Machhalishahar in district Jaunpur. Belasin village consists of three sub villages (Belasin Proper , Belasin Bagi and Belasin Purva).Dala & Bakshu Dubey (brothers) were one of the earliest known settlers of this village and are forefathers (going back at least 10 generations) of Dubey brahmins who reside in Belasin. Late Shrree Shivnath Dubey Pahalwan(wrestler) was a well known wrestler/farmer of Belasin and was the proud father of first PCS oficer of the village , Shree Ramakant Dubey (who rose to the rank of Rural Housing Commisioner of Lukhnow,UP before retiring).Belasin is also home to temple of Belasineshwar (A Shiv temple), which was recently (few years ago) renovated to its current form by the efforts of Shree Ramakant Dubey, Manikchandra Dubey and Late Shree Umakant Dubey (Children's of Shivanth & Babna Dubey)and with the help of everyone else in the village. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a beautiful place and till recently had two Peepal trees that were more than 400 years old. It also has a primary school and gymanesium dedicated to the folks of the village. There is a strong presence of Peacocks in the village (and surrounding areas) and they are everywhere to be seen. Another interesting thing to see is a massive cylindrical stone called KOHLU which was used in old times to extrace Sugarcain juice. There is a river (small) called VASUHI (or BASUHI) that flows from south west, to south and east side of the village.
-This village was first located by Sunil Dubey (son of Manikchandra Dubey who is son of Late shree Shivnath Dubey). Description provided by Anil M Dubey (son of Manikchandra Dubey who is son of Late shree Shivnath Dubey).
