LIRR - Long Island Rail Road, 1860s construction, railway stop
Douglaston is a station stop on the Port Washington branch of the Long Island Railroad. The original 1887 Queen Anne-style depot was built by William Douglas, for whom the community was named, for $6000, a large sum at the time. It was demolished in 1962, and the smaller modern structure was designed by Gordon Lorimer.
