Basin Spring Park (Eureka Springs, Arkansas)

USA / Arkansas / Eureka Springs / Eureka Springs, Arkansas / Spring Street

Park nestled between historic buildings in the Eureka Springs downtown shopping district. The park fronts on Spring Street while surrounded by steep hill slopes, thus forming the basin. This is a great place to relax with a latte or enjoy one of many outdoor festivals. also it's a locals hang out for kids and young folk who may be homeless and or down and out so if you're a believer it may be a better day for you if you skip the latte grab a cuppa joe instead and tip the difference to the kind and talented buskers. also pro tip: there's a city law on the books that states if it wasn't made in the park it's illegal to sell it in the park now most cops will ignore the letter of the thing and just go with "does it look homemade?" so be on the safe side and don't buy things from folks who don't look like artists. especially not the guy with the monkey we've been trying to get him run out of town for years. guy had all the monkeys teeth pulled out to make her (monkey's named April) a more lucrative partner. and since she's always on a line she can't do anything about it other than crap the guy's shoulder every hour or so. anyhow. oh yeah also little known fact if you're sittin' in the band shell and there's people whispering in the park below you can hear them. it's freaky. also it's pretty common to see the world war 1 guy statue dressed up for festivals and various occasions so don't go throwing any kind of hissyfit it's more for the people who see it everyday than the tourists anyway. and it's not disrespectful so chill out please have a good time and for Pete's sake don't call the cops cause it's wearing a lei in July. just calm down look around enjoy the brightly hand painted artisan benches and food being dropped on you from the balcony restaurant and buy a nice homemade item for your kids.
