Central Park Carriages

USA / New Jersey / West New York / West 37th Street, 547

3-story stable completed in 1910. Designed by Van R.P. Saxe, it is clad in red brick, painted bright red at the ground floor on the front facade. It has a roll-down metal gate on the right, and a small, red metal door next to a pair of small windows on the left.

The 2nd floor has two bays of segmental-arched triple-windows with brick voussoirs. The 3rd floor has four single-windows, and the facade is topped by a simple brick parapet.

The building was used by local unions to store theatrical props and stage equipment for a few years in the mid-1900s, thanks to its proximity to Times Square and the theater district. Central Park Carriages was established in 1964, and moved into this building in 1979.
