 office building, Neoclassical (architecture), 1917_construction

167-foot, 12-story Neo-Classical office building completed in 1917. Designed by William M. Farrar, it is clad in buff-colored brick above a 2-story base of pale-orange brick and limestone, spanning eight bays. The ground floor has entrances in both the east end bay and the 2nd bay from the west. The eastern one has recessed glass double-doors in a glass surround, atop a low set of steps framed by thick, red-painted stone piers and topped by a metal canopy, vent and red-painted stone panel with the word "CAXTON". The west entrance is not recessed, but also has double-doors in a glass-and-grey-metal surround, framed by red-painted stone quoins. The rest of the ground floor has grey-painted brick at the base, and white stone quoins at the brick piers. The west end bay has a loading dock, and the 4th bay from the east has a service entrance with black metal doors, atop a short landing with a ramp descending to the west, and short metal stairs to the east. The other four bays have tall tripartite windows with metal vents at the tops.

The upper floors have 4-over-3 industrial windows with black metal framing. At the 2nd floor there are stone sills, and orange-brick spandrels below them. A broad limestone band caps the base. Above the base, each bay has a stone sill and brick lintel. The top two floors are set off by a stone cornice, and a smaller cornice marks the roof line.
