8-story Art-Deco/Art-Moderne office building completed in 1924. Designed by Carrère & Hastings with Shreve & Lamb for the MacMillan Publishing Company, it was originally known as the MacMillan Building. Since 1962, it had served as the headquarters for Forbes Magazine, and also housed a museum of Malcolm Forbes's strange collections, including some important historical artifacts - and the world's largest collection of Faberge eggs.

The facade is clad in limestone, with an imposing base featuring pairs of 2-story Ionic columns framing the central entrance. The base's infill is composed of black cast-iron, and the revolving entry door is topped by a triangular iron pediment. Above the second floor, letters spelled out "FORBES MAGAZINE". The spandrels of the outer window bays are also black cast-iron. It has since been changed to spell out "NEW YORK UNIVERSITY".

The building was sold to NYU in 2010 who moved in after Forbes vacated in 2015 and renovated most of the interior to a new design by Kliment Halsband Architects with furniture by Knoll International, Steelcase, and Howe. The NYU Center for Data Science is an interdisciplinary provostial institute which works with the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. While students either graduate from CAS or GSAS, Courant handles most of the operational responsibilities.

The exterior was used as a filming location for S2E8 of the HBO series "Sex and the City/And Just Like That" as Carrie and Miranda do a walk and talk starting on West 12th Street.
