North Ocean Boulevard (SR A1A)

State Road A1A (sometimes shortened to "A1A", or "Ocean Drive") is a seaside road that connects from Federal Highway to several places. The reason for unusual designation is that the first "A" possibly denotes the Atlantic side of the coast (these was a former "G1A" on the Gulf side of Florida, to the north). There was also a former "State Road 1", so the "A" signified an alternate route. State Road A1A is generally considered a scenic route on most maps, and a Sunday drive along its route makes any trip to the east coast of Florida complete.
