Boca Del Mar is an upper-middle class census-designated place located in an unincorporated area near Boca Raton. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 21,832. Its neighborhood association refers to it as a "master planned residential community" because it was developed in accordance with a plan devised in 1971. Although not officially within the city limits, it possesses the address of neighboring Boca Raton, which is situated to the north and east.
