SEPTA Regional Rail - Cynwyd (R6) Line

 Upload a photo

SEPTA service originally ran to Ivy Ridge, but service was cut back to Cynwyd in 1986 due to suspected structural deficiencies (later determined to be merely concrete spalling) in regards to the Pencoyd Viaduct across the Schuylkill river.

The line itself was originally the Pennsylvania Railroad's Schuylkill Valley branch, which ran to Reading and Pottsville and was abandoned by Conrail between Pottsville and Ivy Ridge in the late 1970s due to general redundancy (the Reading Company's main line ran parallel to it). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schuylkill_Branch
