SEPTA Regional Rail - West Trenton (R3) Line

SEPTA's West Trenton line. It runs from Center City Philadelphia and terminates at West Trenton, NJ; the line itself branches off from the main line at Jenkintown.

When the line was still under the control of the Reading Railroad, it was known as the 'New York branch', as passenger service continued past West Trenton all the way to the Central Railroad of New Jersey's (CNJ) rail terminal in Jersey City, NJ (now part of Liberty State Park). As the CNJ terminal was shut down in 1967, Reading service was cut back to Newark Penn Station, along the Northeast Corridor. This service was discontinued in 1983 after SEPTA retired its aging fleet of Budd Rail-Diesel-Car (RDC) multiple-unit passenger cars.

NJ Transit may be planning to restore service and connect with SEPTA at West Trenton in the future.
