railway, abandoned / shut down, railway bridge
The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad completed their mainline linking Chicago with Seattle in 1909. The line included this notable bridge which passed over the Northern Pacific Railway. The "Milwaukee Road", as it was known, abandoned their line, and this bridge, west of Miles City, Montana, during 1980. The Northern Pacific rail line remains in service, carrying Amtrak passenger trains and BNSF Railway freight trains.
