  • Hinkle is a geographic place. Historically, it was the junction of the original UP (OR&N) mainline to Umatilla and the "Coyote Cutoff", which was constructed in 1914-1915 between Hinkle, OR and Messner, OR. There were houses located at Hinkle at one time to house operators and section workers, however these were removed many years ago.
