unincorporated area / community, railway junction
The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad completed their mainline from Chicago to Seattle during 1909. The mainline across Idaho and eastern Washington passed through south of Spokane, resulting in passenger trains traveling on Union Pacific lines to reach the city. West of Spokane, the UP and CMSP&P lines joined at Marengo. CMSP&P passenger operations ended in 1961, and the Milwaukee Road line through here was abandoned during March 1980.
