Texas Junction is located on the Kansas City Southern Railway, just north of Deramus Yard, the heart of KCS. The Railway built southward from Kansas City during the 1800s, and reached the Gulf Coast in 1897. The line branching off to the west runs to Dallas, and was part of the Louisiana and Arkansas Railway, acquired by the KCS during 1939. Due to changing traffic patterns, the line to Dallas has now become busier than the original line north to Kansas City.
