railway, abandoned / shut down, railroad yard
The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad completed their mainline from Chicago to Seattle during 1909. The line from Othello west to Seattle and Tacoma was converted to electic power, while steam, and later diesels, were used to the east. Othello became an important place on the Milwaukee Road, as every train had to stop and change locomotives. The electric operations ended during 1972, and the line through here was sold after March 1980.
