 lighthouse  Add category

Built in 1835 to cover the northern approach into Galway Bay, along with a similar tower slightly to the south. The lighthouse received new optics in 1939 and was automated in 1990. Unusually for a lighthouse, it is painted black.

During WW2, several sailors and aircrew came ashore on the island.
