Scattery Island Lighthouse

Ireland / Clare / Kilrush /

Built in 1872 beside a now disused fort. The initial design was for the lighthouse to be mounted on rails so it could be moved during firing exercises. However, the structure was damaged in a storm and replaced with a more conventional tower.
