This is a trumpet interchange between U.S. Route 11 (East Main Street) and Interstate 77 / 81 / U.S. Route 52 in Wytheville, Virginia. It is at the south end of a 15 mile overlap between U.S. Route 11 and Interstate 81. Interstate 77 and U.S. Route 52 also overlap I-81 through here.

The interchange was originally constructed around 1964 with a similar, but smaller configuration, compared to today. However, around 1986 it was modified with the completion of Interstate 77 / 81 to the east. The interstate was widened and realigned, the loop ramp from northbound US-11 to southbound I-81 was enlarged, and the frontage roads were extended.
