This is a trumpet, system interchange connecting Interstate 81 and Interstate 77 in Wytheville, Virginia. This is the western end of the I-77/I-81 concurrency beginning in Fort Chiswell. U.S. Route 52 also passes through the interchange, routed along I-81 in a wrong-way concurrency (northbound I-81 is southbound US-52). Although the bridges were built with the I-81 Wytheville bypass in 1964, the rest of the interchange was constructed along with Interstate 77 around 1969. The I-77/I-81 overlap was widened around 1986.
