Only remaining Victorian detached house on south side of Parkhurst Road, after the Second World War. Locals say that a direct hit by a German bomb somewhere between No:53 and St John's Church destroyed about five houses. Hence, the rebuilt ones are of a much later style, but some still have cellars, as they were rebuilt on existing foundations.
