Building originally built in Gothic style in the 15th century, transformed and amplified in Renaissance style in the 16th century, after the great fire of 1570.
Preserves Renaissance elements (main portal, other door and window frames).
In the back it includes a defense tower built in the middle of the 14th century, part of the third defense belt of the city, most probably transformed during the 17th-18th centuries into a house.
In 1851, the Law Academy from the Small Square moved here. Between 1896-1902 here was the headquarters of the Sibiu Electric Power Company - (Hermannstaedter Elektrizitaetswerke AG).
Since the second half of the 19th century, various restaurants and shops have operated here: Friedrich Quandt's Restaurant, Unger's Restaurant (1908-1932), from 1932 Leopold Schneider's hostelry / eating house followed in 1938 by Carl Kasper's Terrace Restaurant open until nationalization; Ludwig Etter shops opened in 1865 (sewing machines, objects and mechanical tools), a clothing store and the antique shop of Grünblatt Benjamin in the early 20th century, in the interwar period here will move Binder & Wittmayer's pharmacy called "At the Angel", coming from N. Bălcescu street.
Here, between 1889 and 1893, the future Hungarian architect KÓS KÁROLY grew up, a prominent figure in the regeneration of medieval language in modern architecture.
